School

Tomorrow I start the last class for my MBA.  It's a little exciting to think that in six weeks I'll be finished with a major goal in my life. However, I'm not very motivated to start working on my paper for class.  You see before we have our first class we are given an assignment to complete.  Normally they are papers related to the chapters that you need to have read for the week.  This one is still a paper but really doesn't pertain to the readings.  We have to write a paper on Ethics.  While this topic is one that I have written about before and believe is a must in the workplace, it's something I have trouble writing about.  I understand Ethics, but I never can get it into words.  I've known about this assignment for several weeks (they post the syllabus well before class starts) and just now I'm trying to get it written.

Argigento

Yesterday we took a tour to Agrigento which is a city located on the southern coast of Sicily.  This city is known for the Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temple). The temples date back to the B.C. era.  We saw the Temple of Juno, Temple of Concordia, and the Temple of Heracles.  It was amazing to see these temples because I studied them in Art History.  Braydon loved the area because he was able to run around (it's closed off to cars) and pickup rocks.  After we visited the temples we headed to the Bagliesi vineyard.  We sat in the room that houses the wines as they ferment and chill.  We had a ton of different little appetizers and several wines.  I purchased a box of four wines (2 whites and 2 Nero d'Avola) Nero d'Avola is a read wine typical to Sicily.  This was a great day, even though Braydon only slept for 15 mins the whole entire day.

Enna

Last weekend I went to Enna with my girlfriend Karen.  It was a day of no children and some good girl time.  First our tour took us to the town of Enna. This city is directly in the center of Sicily.  This city is well known in Greek Mythology for the story of when Proserpine got carried off by Pluto.  We saw the Lombardy Castle and the Duomo.  After we left the town of Enna we traveled to the first outlet malls in Sicily.  The outlet concept is something that is new to the Italian culture.  We shopped for a few hours and then headed back home.  It was some much needed girl time and it's something that needs to happen more.

Power outage Italian style

So yesterday we ran to the store to pick up a few items we forgot to get when we went shopping on Saturday.  We got home and noticed that we had no 110v power, we still had 220v so the heat, air and major appliances were still working.  The 110v kept going on and off and eventually it just stayed off.  We unplugged everything that was 110v just to be safe.  The silver lining for us is that our TV, surround sound, and router are all plugged into 220v so we were able to continue on as if nothing was wrong.  It turns out that our whole street lost 110v and this sucks since it was Superbowl Sunday!  We called to see if housing would send someone out to fix the problem, but no such luck.  They didn't deem it as an emergency so we would have to wait until Monday.

On Monday the power came back up because they replaced the transformer that blew.  We went around and started plugging things in to survey the damage.  So far we have lost our coffee maker, baby monitor, one power strip and surge protector.  Chris went and bought a new power strip so we can see if my CPap was lost or not.  Housing informed us to create a list of all the items lost and give it to them.  When I asked if they would be replacing everything they didn't give me an answer, all they said was "we are going to give to to the lessor".

Off to do some shopping to replace my coffee maker.  I secretly wanted a new one so I guess this is a blessing in disguise!
